Fundraise is an activity that all organizations sooner or later will encounter, whether it is part of the social activities or in the case of some foundations, it is done to help them run the service better. Great ideas usually arise during a fundraise brainstorm, including selling creative items or offer them for auctions. One popular creation is handmade recycled papers for book cover, note books, scrap book materials and packaging. To craft paper into highly creative product with considerably good price requires skills, artistic taste and patience. But when all those aspects are met, the selling is also promising for business.
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: Craft Paper to Change Waste into Profit
Recycled paper is recently not only popular as school projects but it has become a prospective business opportunity. Besides it uses the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle, the end result is also beautiful. There are two basic types of recycled papers, for writing purpose and non-writing purpose. The techniques to craft paper for the above two purposes, are similar. The difference lays on the use of starch in liquid form, added to the pulps dough when it is used for writing. The secret of textures is gained from combining various papers during blending process. Recycled paper for packaging and scrap book usage, is usually designed with rougher surface to highlight the natural texture of the papers. To craft paper into artistic recycled paper needs to consider colors, texture effects and size. To craft paper into comfortably written papers need to consider smoothness, brightness of paper and cleanness. Group the raw material –magazines, newspapers, typed paper, paper bags, construction papers, napkins and toilet paper- into darker and brighter colors, rougher and smoother texture before being blended with warm water for pulps making. This will separate shades and gradations of colors when different raw materials are blended together. Basically, the process involves pulping old papers (with water and liquid starch for writing paper), spread the pulp out according to the desired shapes and design, and dry it well.
Natural Elements for Fabulous Design
It is possible to add more natural elements for ornaments to beautify the recycled paper, both for packaging or scrap book usage or writing paper design. It is important though, to artistically put or sprinkle these natural elements to make the result both natural but not sloppy. To craft paper from old and neglected ones into new products may take several days, due to the drying process. When you wish to add dried leaves, flowers, seeds or twigs, they do need to dry well along with the pulp. Collect various types of leaves with different sizes to vary the ornaments on the paper. Leaves are easiest to find. Flowers, especially the petals are also lovely, such as roses or daisy petals. Dried seed are best combines with recycled paper for package usage but it can be designed at the corners of the paper frame when it is for writing usage. If you offer personalize design for specific orders, it is a good idea to let the prospective buyers know, what elements of decorations you have and what they desire. Apply adjusted charge for these orders as they will take separate process and treatments.
